The festive season well and truly started in a spectacular way for me on Saturday night. I was kindly invited to the gala night of The Snow Queen at Hertford Theatre.
The festive feeling hits the second you arrive at the theatre, it’s beautifully decorated. It looks like a winter wonderland, makes a wonderful impact, and sets the scene for the show perfectly.
The Snow Queen is the Hertford Theatres 10th Anniversary Christmas Show and has been written and directed by Rhys Thomas. Gerda (Lauren Jacobs) is off on an icey adventure searching the North for her best friend Kai (Josh Dorn). Along the way she comes across fairy tale favourites who will delight your children. Musically The Snow Queen is a gem, not only is it jam packed with sing along hits that you will find yourself bopping & singing along too, the performers are pitch perfect with incredible vocals. Anya Hamilton who plays the Snow Queen has an exquisite voice, damn the girl can sing! You will be wowed.
I became aware shortly after the opening scene just how much I was smiling and enjoying myself. It’s wonderful how a show can just wrap you up in itself and produce that instant feel good factor.
I particularly loved the Magpies, played by Chris Draper, Elliot Moore and Katherine Victoria. They were incredibly comical, and captured my heart from the start.
I am honestly really looking forward to seeing the show again next week with the children. I would highly recommend you book some tickets for your family this Christmas. It’s running until January 1st so what are you waiting for, get booking and for once be able to guarantee your children a white Christmas!
